Mirror clear
In creating the form for this work, I thought of diamonds, or tips of icebergs, pushing themselves up trough the street surface. I wanted the forms to be humorous and playful, something the public can interact with. Made from mirror polished stainless steel, the forms reflect everything around it like a mirror. The artwork also serves as a pair of benches, and the bigger piece has wooden finishing for added comfortability. Not having any angles with less than 90 degrees, the forms remain safe to use as a permanent part of the street, comparable to other urban steel structures.
The work was installed at Otavalankatu Tampere during October 2016. It was commissioned by the City of Tampere, as part of a pilot project in public art. Read more about the project here.
