“In the context of spatial changes in Aleksanteri Church, we felt the need to have a baptism tree. The names of the baptized children would be written on the leaves on the tree, and the scupture would grow with the congregation.

We facilitated the procurement through an art competition and ultimately chose Maija’s proposal, “Puu, joka suojaa” (The Tree that Protects).

Collaboration with Maija proceeded with enthusiasm and ease, and she kept the working group updated on the design and implementation. The artwork was completed on schedule and introduced during the Advent service. Families celebrating baptisms have expressed gratitude for the opportunity to place their child’s name on the baptism tree, and many have attended the service to personally hang their name leaf on the artwork.

Based on this experience, I would say that Maija is an inspiring professional with the expertise to design the right artwork for each space.”
