I was lucky to be part of a group of people working on the field of public art in Finland, that visited the important public art sites of Stockholm about two weeks ago. The so called 'Percentage for Art' -principle is used there nation wide, and put to action trough operators like the Statens Konstråd, a state funded organization promoting and organizing public art projects. We also visited the construction site of New Karolinska Solna hospital, a huge new hospital, in which the 'Percentage for Art' -principle has been used.
The Finnish Government has also listed promoting public art as one of their top projects in the field of culture in the upcoming 4 years. Looking forward to seeing what this will mean in practice.
